Update from the School - November events!
November 1st, 2024
Hello parents and guardians!
We’ve had a great month of October, with only one more week to go before our Fall Break which starts on November 11th. We felt there were a few things we needed to update you on for next week and for after the break, so please have a look at upcoming events.
November 5th - Our last mini-spikers practice will take place after school from 3:15 until 4:15. Once students come back from the break, we will organize a mini tournament where parents and family will be invited to attend! A huge thank you to all our student leaders of this great extracurricular experience for our elementary students.
November 6th - As was communicated last week, we will be doing our first lockdown drill on this upcoming Wednesday. Teachers will review with students the procedures for this drill, and students will be reminded when the drill begins that it is only a practice drill.
November 7th - We will be hosting our annual Awards Celebration at 7pm in the school gym. We look forward to honouring students for the academic and athletic achievements, along with recognizing the leadership and citizenship of our students.
Also on November 7th, our Grade 9 students will be participating in the annual Take Your Kids to Work Day. Hay Lakes students will get to experience the workplace of parents, family members, or family friends to learn about different careers. **Please note that this date is different from the national day so students do not miss their CTS classes at the COMP on Wednesday.**
November 8th - We will be having our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. The time will be shared next week if there are any parents or community members who would like to attend.
As part of the ceremony, students and staff will be walking to the cenotaph by the rec centre for the laying of wreaths. All students must have a permission form signed to be able to attend. The form was put online yesterday.
Also on Friday the 8th, our volunteers from the school council will be at the school for our first hotdog day of the year! Any left over cards from last year were passed on to this year’s teacher, but cards can also be bought online. If you are able to help with hot lunches in any way this year, please contact the School Council email at feedbackhlsc@gmail.com
After the fall break, here are some upcoming events that more details will be shared later:
- November 19th - School Council Meeting at 7pm in the school Library.
- November 29th - Students in Gr. 3-7 will be attending the ECCHS performance of “Willy Wonka” in Camrose.
- December 6th - No School for Students
- December 17th - School Christmas Concert - we will once again be doing an afternoon and evening concert.
